·Broad-tailed and Black-chinned Hummingbirds arrive. Some will stay and some are migrating through. Be sure to have their feeders ready!

·Hummingbird nectar recipe: Mix four parts water to one-part table sugar….no red dye and no sugar substitutes.

·Bullocks and Scott's Orioles begin to arrive. Place your orange-colored nectar feeder or half an orange, juicy side up, out in the open to entice flying orioles to your yard.

Orioles can drink the same nectar recipe as hummingbirds. They also like oranges and grape jelly.
- Both American and Lesser Goldfinches are molting and growing in their bright yellow feathers.

Watch for birds gathering nesting materials.

Tree swallows begin nesting late in the month.
