Nature Happenings - August

• Transition month: Orioles start heading south.

• Hummingbird activity remains strong. Watch for the second brood of young at your feeders.

•  Mature native grasses, shrubs and flowers are an excellent food source for birds.

• Watch for Grosbeaks and Tanagers starting to migrate through.

• Rufous, Broadtail, Calliope and Anna's Hummingbirds continue heading through on their way south.

• House Finches are still coming to feeders with their young. 

• 8/12 - 8/13 Perseids Meteor shower peaks.

• 8/15 - National Honey Bee Day
